Winter body lotion

Winter body lotion. When I made my first lotion with my own hands, I stopped even going to cosmetic departments. Homemade lotion (for the same money) does not contain parabens, fragrances, synthetic preservatives, petroleum jelly, alcohol, etc. There are only vegetable and essential oils, fats and herbs.

All the ingredients I use in my skincare products are affordable and easy to find. Some exotic components may require clarification - I will try to describe most of the oils in a separate article later. Next to the ingredient I write the approximate cost in online stores.

Winter body lotion. Recipe

• 30 grams of Kokum butter (about 40 UAH (250 rubles) per 30 grams)
• 90 grams of olive oil
• 180 grams of Aloe Vera gel (100 ml 885 RUR, the gel is the scraped core of an Aloe leaf and can be free if you have a bush. You can replace it with a strong infusion of green tea)
• 15 ml of vegetable glycerin (50 ml - 15 UAH, 35 rubles) or honey; ordinary propylene glycerin should not be used.
• 15 grams of vegetable emulsifying wax (50 grams 25 UAH, 60 rubles)
• a pinch of citric acid
• 3 ml of rosemary extract (prices depend on the quality of the product, very different: 5 ml 46 UAH, 100 rubles)
• a mixture of essential oils, a total amount of no more than 50 drops (cedarwood, frankincense, geranium, chamomile…) I give preference to the oils of Young Living, Karel Hadek, Just - really high-quality, real medically purified oils that can be used internally (no links, no advertising - my observations).

Manufacturing process

1. It is advisable to have a kitchen scale to accurately weigh ingredients. As a last resort, you can use measuring spoons and cups.
2. Add kokum, olive oil, Aloe gel or green tea infusion, honey or glycerin, emulsifying wax and citric acid to an enamel or stainless saucepan.
3. Place the saucepan in a steam bath to ensure complete dissolution. Stir constantly.
4. Remove from heat and, using an immersion blender or whisk mixer, beat the mixture until thick and creamy. Add rosemary extract and essential oils, mix thoroughly.
5. Fill sterilized storage jars.

When preparing the lotion, all tools must be doused with boiling water, because we do not use preservatives (except for a little citric acid and rosemary extract) and must prevent the growth of bacteria and mold. The lotion can be stored for up to six months and there is no need to store it in the refrigerator.

The lotion does not leave greasy stains and does not flake due to the wax.

Product yield is 330-340 grams, the price varies between 50-100 hryvnia (100 is the maximum with all the best ingredients - Aloe hydrogel and not tea, the best essential oils). Pure, 100% healthy product without ballast, chemical thickeners, etc. This lotion is very suitable for sensitive skin, and even for eczema.
