The 3 best spices for coffee. Coffee recipes
I have my own ranking: the 3 best spices for coffee. Classic black coffee is ideal and self-sufficient. But on cold winter evenings I want something fabulous and bright, cozy and spicy… About vanilla and caramel in coffee I already wrote, today I will share my favorite herbs and spices for coffee.
I’ll start with cardamom. An amazing spice with a refreshing and spicy
taste that harmonizes and complements the taste of coffee. For 1 tbsp of ground coffee, 2 cardamom seed pods are enough. The seeds need to be removed and added to the Turk during cooking or directly into the cup. You should not use ground cardamom; it is practically not stored in ground form and loses its aroma and pungency. It goes well with cream in coffee and a pinch of salt.
Cinnamon has long been a classic and doesn’t require much introduction. Lately I have been giving preference to cinnamon sticks - I just stir hot coffee with a stick. Cinnamon goes well with vanilla and also goes well with cardamom.
The discovery for me was star anise, or star anise. To prevent coffee with
from becoming cough syrup, you should add just a grain, not a whole star, to 1 serving. It harmonizes well with cinnamon, cognac, even with orange zest. I didn’t really like it with cream.
Of course, vanilla is beyond competition for me. I want to share with you this season’s favorite recipe.
Malibu Coffee (inspired by Malibu Orange Caramels)
- Cup of brewed coffee
- Zest of half an orange (not large)
- Orange slice
- 50 ml milk
- Vanilla or vanilla sugar to taste
- Sugar to taste
- Salt on the tip of a knife (I recommend)
While brewing coffee, add the zest and bring the milk to a boil in another container. Strain the coffee from the zest, add hot milk, vanilla, sugar and garnish with an orange slice. 3-4 marshmallows in a cup wouldn’t hurt))) This is truly exotic, try it!
Coffee with spices smells like Christmas, gives a feeling of family warmth and comfort….And there is snow outside the window….
