Do-it-yourself sconce lamp

I saw enough inspiring photos with knitted lamps on design websites and decided to repeat it for myself. Making a lamp with your own hands is easier than choosing it - that’s the conclusion I made after screwing the sconce to the wall))).

I was inspired by exclusive knitted lampshades, as in the photo below:

Here’s what I got:

How to make a lamp for the wall

Making a lamp with your own hands is not difficult, but it turned out to be difficult to decorate it neatly. Fortunately, any defect can be hidden with another knitted piece… So, a DIY sconce lamp!

I found it useful:

  • Cable with switch and cartridge; Cable and cartridge
  • Jigsaw;
  • A piece of laminated board (in my case a piece of laminate came in handy); Materials for the lamp
  • Furniture stapler and staples;
  • Decorative cover for the mixer;
  • Yarn, hook;
  • Gelatin;
  • Bottle;
  • Glue.

Cut a circle out of the board, make a hole for the cable in the center. Sconce holder

On the inside we scrape out the groove for the cord. Washer-holder for lamp

We stretch the cord into the hole, secure it with a stapler. Holder for sconces Lamp base

We knit a lampshade. In order to secure the knitted fabric, you need to prepare a strong gelatin solution; I diluted 30 grams of gelatin with a glass of hot water. We place a knitted lampshade on the jar and soak it in the solution.

Let it dry completely for at least a day. I knitted an overlay for the holder and a flower, which now seems superfluous, but it’s too late… Now the most difficult and painstaking stage: assembling the lamp.

We insert the cartridge into the decorative trim from the mixer and glue it. In my case, everything fit perfectly in diameter. To prevent the “head” of the lamp from falling, I tied a piece of thick wire to the cord with electrical tape. This stage is not documented, unfortunately. Attaching the lampshade

Let’s check if everything works.

The result satisfied me. The lamp provides additional soft light to the work area, which is more relaxing than stimulating to work. I hope my experience will be useful to someone.
