We sew children's pants from a T-shirt
Skirt We already have a T-shirt skirt, now we are sewing children’s pants from a T-shirt. Often, the sleeves of things that are used as rags are cut off and thrown away. Previously, I had no idea where they could be used until I came across chic children’s leggings made of knitted sleeves.
What we need:
- Sewing machine
- Knitted sweater with long sleeves
- Buttons
- Scissors
- Needle and thread
- Linen elastic
- Pants that can be used to make a template
Place the sleeves with the seams facing in. Trim the top of the sleeves to allow 4cm or more above the waist. This hem is for the elastic band.
Spread the seam of the sleeves to the crotch.
Sew the sleeves together according to the instructions in the picture.
To create a waist, turn up the top of the sewn sleeves and pull the elastic through. Decorate your pants with buttons.
No less wonderful pants can be made from T-shirt fabrics.
Take matching pants for the template. Please note that the back is slightly higher than the front.
Raise the front to be level with the back.
Having marked the lower and upper levels of the armhole, stretch the trousers across the width. Make sure there is enough room in the pants for movement and maybe for a diaper.
Now mark the length of the legs.![mark the length of the legs] (baby-boho-leggings-from-a-tshirt.jpg)As a result, we have 6 marks. Connect the marks to form a rectangle.
Draw the inner line of the legs. It is enough to do this on one side.
Mark the center of the waist and fold the pattern.
Cut out the paper panties.
Add allowance. For the elastic, it is advisable to leave about 4 cm, but here you should be guided by the width of the elastic. And a centimeter from the sides. We do not need allowances on the hem of the legs, since the hem of the T-shirt is processed.
Sew the two fabrics from the wrong side, use a zigzag stitch.Turn up the elastic waistband. Stitch, leaving a small hole to insert elastic.
Insert the rubber band. Sew up the hole.
Children’s T-shirt pants are ready!
To complement these pants, I would like to add a short video tutorial on sewing sweatpants from a T-shirt. The video is in English, but everything is extremely simple and clear.
And here are your pants from a shirt!
In the crafts section you can find some good ways to recycle used items. For example, throw old sweaters onto a blanket , or knit cute decorations for flower pots from leftover yarn. You should definitely find a few hours a week for enjoyable activities like crafts if it brings you joy.
