Homemade toothpaste with your own hands

Homemade toothpaste with your own hands can be much more effective than the most expensive store-bought or drugstore toothpaste. Recommendations for dental care are so contradictory that you are amazed - even to the point of “brushing your teeth is good” and “brushing is harmful.” I am still inclined to believe that brushing your teeth is necessary, simply necessary - this makes me feel fully human))). But what to clean with is a fundamental question.

Any industrial toothpaste and brush with plastic bristles damage tooth enamel. The ingredients in the pastes have a toxicity of 4-5, with a maximum of 10. For example, sodium fluoride - 5, all flavoring fragrances - 4, Cocamidopropyl betaine (foaming reagent) - 4. We, of course, We don’t eat the paste, but in 2 minutes of brushing, our salivary glands and the oral cavity as a whole absorb all these substances and send them directly into the blood… Another ingredient, glycerin, gives the paste a more pleasant consistency and gloss to the teeth, but not allows teeth to absorb minerals from the paste, that is, it prevents their remineralization (restoration). And so much has already been said about fluorine that I won’t say anything.

Even without thinking about the ingredients, is toothpaste really effective? Does it prevent dental problems? I couldn’t answer yes to these questions, so trying homemade toothpaste seemed like a good idea. The composition described below came across me several times while collecting information for the article, and the reviews were only positive. I haven’t had time to make the paste yet, but my husband is already dreaming of throwing away his Paradontax))).

DIY toothpaste. Recipe

  • 2 tbsp. l without a hill of ground egg shells
  • 3 tbsp. l coconut oil (highly desirable)
  • 3 tbsp. l bentonite clay (or white, blue)
  • 1 tbsp. l with a slide of baking soda
  • Water as needed

Mix dry ingredients. Add coconut oil melted in a water bath and stir thoroughly. Add a little water for a comfortable consistency. If you are lucky and bought bentonite clay, use glass or plastic containers, no metal.

This is the basic recipe. The ingredients can be varied and supplemented, but it is not advisable to replace the base - coconut oil and clay. Essential oils can be added - mint, cinnamon, thyme, sage, nutmeg, eucalyptus. I would pay attention to oregano oil - one of the most effective natural antibiotics on earth. In the total dose, the amount of oils should not exceed 15 drops per 3 tbsp. l. bases (coconut oil). Sea salt can also be useful - 0.5 tsp of finely ground salt per 3 tbsp of base. Store in glass or ceramic, tightly closed.

I didn’t suggest any sweetener here. In fact, we are accustomed to sweet paste (due to xylitol), but this is not at all necessary. However, you have every right to sweeten the paste with [stevia] extract( https://g.janecraft.net/svojstva-i-polza-stevii-ximicheskij-sostav-stevii/ ) or a sugar substitute tablet (I will add a circle of sukrasite) .

Homemade pasta has several unconditional advantages:

  • the ingredients are inexpensive compared to advertised and conditionally effective pharmaceutical pastes
  • 100% natural
  • Whitening without peroxide, acids and harsh chemicals

There is a simpler recipe, but in my opinion, it is too abrasive and cannot be used daily:

  • Baking soda and sea salt 1/1
  • Water
  • Essential oils

Mix dry ingredients, add water until you reach a consistency you like. Add a few drops of essential oil.

Rumor has it that it is homemade toothpastes that allow our teeth to remineralize - that is, cavities in our teeth that are about to become caries can fill up again naturally. Dentists are not interested in this, so they even laugh at the possibility of remineralization. But when I was studying the material for the article, I also read kilometers of comments on this topic - people write that having discovered cavities in their teeth at the next dentist appointment (on an x-ray), they decided to try remineralization with home remedies and after 6 months they didn’t have to drill anything. This is one example, but there are many similar ones on the Internet.

What questions do you have about homemade pasta?

  1. Does baking soda scratch enamel? Baking soda is much less abrasive than the abrasiveness rating (RDA) of commercial pastes.
  2. Are essential oils safe? I have to be completely honest here - essential oils are inherently very dangerous for the kidneys if you drink them. But those 15 drops, calculated for the total volume of the paste, will only bring benefits. After all, the menthol in pastes can cause heart failure… Just be moderate and try not to swallow the mixture.
  3. How to store homemade toothpaste? Store the mixture in a glass at room temperature, covered.
  4. Does this paste help get rid of the smell of food (for example, onion-garlic)? They write that homemade toothpaste is much better in this regard than any store-bought toothpaste. But it is worth remembering that many aromas rise directly from the stomach and also stay in the blood for a long time - this applies to alcohol and onion essential oils.
  5. Can homemade toothpaste be harmful? I don’t think so. If you are allergic, be careful with oils.
  6. Do the ingredients affect the whiteness of teeth? They do, very positively! Organic and accurate whitening is guaranteed.

There is only one detail that you will have to take care of - do not let the paste dry on the brush, rinse it thoroughly with hot water.
