Ointment for eczema. 3 best recipes
It is difficult to imagine an ointment for eczema that would not have contraindications and side effects. All that the pharmacy offers are steroids and hormones, which lead to other skin problems and more.
I had to deal with moderate dry eczema during acne treatment about 7-8 years ago. Too aggressive cleaning with antibiotics and acids finished off my skin, I had to use steroid drugs. Steroid creams have turned my face into a “stony crust” and I am still struggling with the effects of years of acne treatment. And I fight successfully, but I don’t buy creams - I prepare them!
Thanks to a few simple but highly effective natural ingredients, I keep eczema and acne under control - without hormones, antibiotics, steroids or parabens with lauryl sulfates.
When I decided to treat eczema on my own, I had to sort through the most conflicting information, but among the frankly strange recommendations there were some real pearls that I want to share with you.
Ointment for eczema. Recipe 1
- 0.5 cup unrefined hard Shea butter (Karite)
- 10 drops of geranium essential oil
- 20 drops of cedar essential oil
- 10 drops of lavender essential oil
In this case, we do not heat Shea butter; we work in a warm room. Mix the ingredients thoroughly and store at room temperature in a dark place.
This ointment option successfully treats childhood eczema caused by food allergies. There is experience of using it in a child with an allergy to wheat gluten - 4 days of using the ointment completely erased traces of eczema from the face. In my experience, the main winners in this recipe are Shea butter and lavender. Apply to skin 2-3 times a day, can be used as basic care for any skin, at any age.
I would like to once again focus on the fact that the ingredients must be of the highest quality. Essential oils are especially important here - if the raw materials are of poor quality, you can even harm yourself. A few words about what oils I use are in this article .
Cream for eczema. Recipe 2
- 100 grams of unrefined Shea butter (Karite)
- 30 grams of sea buckthorn oil (it is extremely rarely sold in its pure form here, so it can be replaced with hemp or avocado oil. But sea buckthorn is the best.)
- 30 grams of calendula oil (I made it myself. I filled a jar with calendula flowers, heated olive oil and poured it into the jar for three days, filtered.)
- Essential oils, 10 drops each: chamomile, patchouli, carrot seeds, incense (the cream will also work without oils, but if you have the opportunity to get good essential oils, then it’s better not to skimp in this case.)
At room temperature, combine all ingredients using a cocktail mixer or immersion blender. Transfer the cream to a sterilized jar and store in a cool, dark place for no more than 6 months.
It is better to use after washing. Sea buckthorn oil can tint the cream a light carrot tint, but this depends on what kind of oil you bought. I really liked this version of the eczema cream as an evening cream - I slept on a diaper on top of the pillowcase so as not to spoil the pillow, since the oils are not always completely absorbed.
Ointment for eczema. Recipe 3
- 30 grams of Shea butter
- 30 grams of coconut oil
- 15 drops of lavender essential oil (in general, it became a discovery and salvation for me, I wrote several articles about lavender .)
- 5 drops of tea tree essential oil.
Melt Shea and coconut in a steam bath, let cool until pleasantly warm and add essential oils. Mix thoroughly and transfer to a jar. You can whip the cream, this is not necessary. Store in the refrigerator, it melts from the warmth of your hands. It is very pleasant to use ointment from the refrigerator for all kinds of skin exacerbations. The kids will love it too.
Why these ingredients?
I will pay attention to 5 favorite ingredients:
- SHE BUTTER gives a moisturizing effect and retains moisture in the skin. It contains a number of the most important vitamins for the skin: A, E, F, and K. Promotes collagen growth. Contains three essential essential fatty acids: linoleic, linolenic and arachidonic.
- COCONUT OIL closely looked at in this article.
- LAVENDA ESSENTIAL OIL best anti-scar oil of all herbs. Only mink oil (the best wound healing agent for burns) can compete with it. It is the official “assistant” of traditional medicine in the fight against psoriasis and eczema.
- TEA TREE ESSENTIAL OIL suppresses pathogenic microflora that blooms in the inflamed dermis.
- SEA BUCKTHORN OIL is very good for treating dry skin, weeping ulcers, and burns. The richest composition: E, C, B1, B2, B3, B6, B9, K), magnesium, iron, calcium, manganese, silicon, nickel, molybdenum), amino acids, polyunsaturated fatty acids, phytosterols, phospholipids. But I don’t really like to use it in its pure form; I mix it with sour cream or baby cream, or as part of the creams described above.
All the recipes presented in this article have been tested by hundreds of people and are suitable even for infants. The ingredients are accessible and simple, although 10 years ago I couldn’t even dream of Shea butter and good lavender oil… After all, we live in amazing times!
