Do-it-yourself table made from construction waste

During 3 months of renovation, the construction waste got to me… I constantly felt an irresistible desire to hide somewhere a defective piece of laminate, a crumbling shapeless sheet of drywall, all the sticks and boards with twisted rusty nails… What if it comes in handy! do-it-yourself table from construction waste As a result, everything that fit under the kitchen furniture and behind the bathtub remained. Including the frame from an acrylic bathtub, which, with the help of a jigsaw and a screwdriver, became a construction “goat”. Since the next stage of finishing the apartment was expected soon, they did not get rid of the goat, but there was nowhere to store it.

The issue with storing the construction trestle was resolved in favor of a slightly awkward, slightly wobbly, but rather nice temporary table.

I decided to publish my experience of decorating a table with only one goal - what if this not entirely successful attempt gives you a more interesting idea for remodeling or decorating some “strange” things.

It’s simple:

  • We strengthen the structure, if necessary (click on the pictures).
  • We clean it from construction dust, putty, and you can sand it if desired.
  • The joints of the boards can be painted over or crocheted motifs can be glued onto them, I wanted to do it as quickly as possible - so paint.
  • We take the most useless threads, which under other circumstances could be thrown away. Yarn from T-shirts and scraps are suitable for this project.
  • Let the paint dry and begin the monotonous, but calming work of the nerves - wrapping the boards with yarn.
  • The tabletop was crocheted in the form of a rectangle with double crochets. It was possible to find a faster, more practical and less labor-intensive solution, but the relaxation process of knitting was important to me, and at that moment I couldn’t think of anything better than knitting a huge permanent napkin for a table.
  • We nail the knitted tablecloth to the boards with a furniture stapler. Now the table can only be tidied up with a vacuum cleaner…
  • We use it for its intended purpose.

Somehow it turned out that not a single color matches, everything is crooked, in some places I didn’t even get it right, but I still loved it. Sometimes there is a need to simply create, to work with your hands without planning or counting on the result. This is just such a case - all the worries and anxieties that had accompanied me over the past 10 months, all the mistakes and failures were “wrapped” around the goat.
