Bathroom vanity unit
The bathroom vanity can even be from an old chest of drawers. Linen chests of drawers are universal; you can use them to make a changing table, a sideboard, a dressing table, a bench, or even a cabinet under the bathroom sink. Below I have compiled a detailed tutorial on how to repurpose an old chest of drawers into a bathroom vanity.
Vanity cabinet in the bathroom from a chest of drawers
The author of this masterpiece remade a painted chest of drawers that served as a changing table. Below are the author’s recommendations:
1. Find a chest of drawers that is the right size. This mainly concerns its width and depth, since the legs can always be changed.
2. Remove paint from furniture surfaces. If the chest of drawers you choose is coated with polish, it can be removed using a hair dryer or a special compound from a hardware store. Oil paint, enamels, acrylates and latex paint can also be removed using a hair dryer (heat gun) or manually: with a metal brush, trowel, spatula, sandpaper, plane…3. Removing paint from furniture can take a long time. Scraping paint can be both a tedious and fun task, especially if your furniture has been “upgraded” several times. Layer by layer, the chest of drawers will surprise you.
4. Now the chest of drawers can be painted. In this project, the tabletop was replaced, you can leave the original one, you can lay it out with tiles or mosaics.
5. The chest of drawers in its original form had no legs and was rather low. Legs can be purchased in a variety of shapes and heights. In this case, the problem with the legs was solved creatively))).
6. A new countertop made of parquet boards was ordered for the chest of drawers. Before cutting a hole in the countertop, draw a template and use it to cut out a hole using a jigsaw! . The tabletop is made of natural wood; the author decided to oil it with tung wood oil and varnish it.
8. Next, install the faucets on the sink.
9. Place the chest of drawers in your new place of residence. If there are drawers in the chest of drawers, you will have to make holes in them for drain pipes.
10. Place the sink on the stand and seal the seams.
